you’ve just got to see me through another day
my body’s aching and my time is at hand
and I won’t make it any other way

~I’m Donna. I’m a Human Being. Maybe not the stuff of legend but every bit as important as Time Lords~
DONNA NOBLE → I just want you to know, there are worlds out there, safe in the sky because of her. That there are people living in the light, and singing songs of Donna Noble. A thousand, million light years away. They will never forget her — while she can never remember. … But for one moment… one shining moment… she was the most important woman in the whole wide universe.
“If you ever see a little blue box fly up there in the sky, you shout for me, Gramps. Oh, you just shout.”
“You’re not gonna make the world any better by shouting at it!”
I flipping LOVE Donna Noble. The thing about Doctor Who that is (for me) the best part is, well, the Doctor, of course, but secondly it’s the companions and their ordinariness. And the point of the show being that ordinary humans are important and spectacular and wonderful. And insecure. Donna’s ending smashed my heart into little tiny pieces.
I hope that Oswin or Clara or whatever her name is manages to bring some real proper human insecurity to her role. The whole “Is there a word for total screaming genius, that sounds modest and a tiny bit sexy?” bit has me worrying that she’s going to be a River Song clone, and totally unrelatable. Fingers crossed!
